Remembering September 11: When Life Changes in an Instant

September 11 is a day we remember collectively—but for the families who lost someone, it is also deeply personal.
On that morning, thousands of people left home expecting to return. Spouses went to work. Parents kissed their children goodbye. Phone calls were made. Ordinary plans were made for an ordinary day.
And then, in an instant, everything changed.
September 11 reminds us that loss does not come with a warning. Sometimes there is no time to prepare, no opportunity to say goodbye, and no chance to ask the questions you wish you had asked.
The families left behind had to navigate more than grief. They had to navigate paperwork, finances, funeral arrangements, legal matters, children, homes, careers—and a future they never expected to face alone.
We remember the lives lost on September 11. We remember the families who were forever changed. And we remember that behind every statistic is a person who was loved, a family who was changed, and a life that had to be rebuilt.
Today, we remember. And we hold space for everyone still navigating the loss.
